ILCF - Institut de Langue et de Culture Françaises
As part of the Erasmus + Mobility program, Florence Vacher, a teacher at the ILCF, went to Perugia ("Perugia" in French) in Italy from September 3 to 7, 2023. The aim of the mission was to teach a few hours of French for Specific Purposes to doctoral students in the Philosophy Department of the University of Perugia.
These hours enabled the students to:
- Gain a better understanding of the place of philosophy in France
- Reinforce their "French philo" vocabulary
- Strengthen their cultural knowledge of French philosophers
- Evaluate their written and oral French language skills
- Practice written and oral presentation skills, with a view to studying philosophy in France.
Based on authentic documents (videos and newspaper articles), the first objective was to compare the place of philosophy in teaching in France and Italy (understand its origins, reasons and implications in French society, give your opinion).
The creation of playful teaching aids helped reinforce linguistic and cultural knowledge, in particular of French philosophers (activities on major philosophical notions, quotations from French philosophers, and humorous illustrations).
From an action-oriented perspective, as the students would be continuing their studies in France, a final sequence helped them practise the written and oral presentation of their research work (presentation of their background and work, projects and motivations), in terms of both language and methodology. In a pragmatic, individual and collective way, each presentation (written and oral in interaction) gave rise to a diagnostic evaluation, followed by individual and collective remediation.
These initial contacts between the ILCF and the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Perugia are part of a long and fruitful cooperation between the two universities. In view of the excellent initiatives undertaken during this mobility program, further exchanges between the two training units are expected in the near future.
